Celebrate Spring in Fernie

As the snow starts to melt and the days are longer, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a spring adventure in Fernie. This small town in Southern BC is home to some spectacular scenery and really comes alive in the spring time when flowers start to bloom and the days are warmer. 

 

Below we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite things to do in Fernie this spring.

 

Enjoy Your Last Ski Day 

As the winter season winds down, Fernie Alpine Resort usually closes its downhill ski and snowboard operations in mid-April. Now’s your chance to get out and enjoy some spring slush laps before the snow has all gone. 

 

Try Your Hand at Mountain Biking

Whether it’s your first time trying this sport or you’re a seasoned pro - Fernie has lots of options to try your hand at this popular mountain town sport. From beginner trails to advanced downhill, there are over 100 trails surrounding Fernie. You can rent a variation of different bikes directly from Fernie Alpine Resort and enjoy a fun-filled day in the saddle.  

 

Hike to a Scenic Waterfall

With the warmer weather melting the snow from high up in the mountains, this time of year is ideal for waterfall watching. Fairy Creek Falls is a beginner hike, perfect for all the family. Make sure to check the conditions before you go as spiked shoes are sometimes still required throughout early spring.
