Heiko’s Trail

Heiko’s Trail is definitely the most epic hike in Fernie. Visitors from all over come to hike this 21 kilometre trail that takes you through canyons, mountain meadows, waterfalls, and even the huge Bisaro Cave. If you choose to do this trek, prepare for a long, full day of hiking (about 8-12 hours), but rest assured, the views (and possible wildlife sightings) will be worth it!

Fairy Creek Falls

Are you planning a family hike? We can’t think of anywhere better than Fairy Creek Falls. This trail has hikers following Fairy Creek all the way to a scenic waterfall that sits at the base of Mount Proctor. The waterfall itself promises to be loud, misty and overflowing with water (especially in mid to late spring), which makes it the perfect place to cool off.

Three Sisters

The Three Sisters Trail will have hikers climbing to the peak of the tallest mountain visible from Fernie, Mount Trinity. This hike is not for the faint-hearted! The trail begins the same way as Heiko’s Trail, taking you through caves, canyons, and meadows. However, it diverges shortly thereafter, when you start to head up Three Sisters. Note: Be sure to do this hike on a clear day, as otherwise, the clouds will block the incredible view you get from the top.
